Sunny but not Warm, Buffalo Main Light Lighthouse in Winter, Erie Basin Marina, Buffalo, NYSunny but not WarmBuffalo Main Light in Winter Winter can do wonders along the shore of Lake Erie, especially when the temperatures dip into single digits or even below 0°F. The wind usually coming from the west, thus blowing over the lake and picking up moisture, can become quite an artist and create ice sculptures on anything that comes in its way after making landfall. Rocks, shelters, cars, even grass and sidewalks can turn into picturesque scenes. And fences are no exception.

And that was my theme this morning finding this beauty at the Erie Basin Marina in Buffalo, NY. Strangely, I was alone at the place upon arrival, which contributed to my thorough enjoyment of the scene in front of me. That is what I like about early mornings, or as in this case, freezing mornings when nobody wants to stick their nose out. I had spent about an hour there and the whole time I counted three cars driving by with not a single person getting out. Not even me crawling around in the ice and snow attracted enough attention to get them out!
