Wizard's Glass
Creating these abstract forms of light, or refractographs, feels like magic. You start with an empty black space and just by positioning the refractive glass in front of the camera and shining a ray of light through it can create amazing light patterns. And the magic continues as you can move the glass in relation to the camera and turn it to adjust the form to your liking.
I like it promotes imagination. Yes, you can choose to see nothing but abstract shapes, curves, light, and shadows. However, you can also try to identify what real life objects the light patterns resemble. Sometimes, those just jump right out at me, other times, it takes a while.
Here, I saw a glass with a stem and a foot with a spiky top thinking that's what a wizard might use for his alchemy.
