Out early before sunrise and walking through the woods of Emery Park south of East Aurora, NY. It was an early fall and a cloudy start to the day. While my focus was mostly on water and foliage nature surprised me and suddenly altered my plans. When I saw the patch of mostly straight trees in front of me with the early light filtering through them this idea was born.
Emery Park is in the village of South Wales, NY and offers hiking, biking, picnic shelters, baseball, cross-country skiing, showshoeing, and also downhill skiing with a T-Bar to get you back up. You can also hike along the East Branch of Cazenovia Creek in its eastern-most section. And finally, it also has a disc golf course.
For the waterfall hunters, it features several small waterfalls (
1,
2). You can find info on those on
Fullzguy's Western New York Waterfalls page.
Emery Park is a short drive south from East Aurora and not far from Buffalo and its suburbs.
