A beautiful summer day slowly coming to its end. The sun disappearing from the sky and finding a hiding place in a layer of clouds hovering above the distant horizon, as if finding pillows to rest in. A strong breeze coming in over the lake, accompanied with a surf that a sea would not have to be ashamed of. Add some rocks and the last remnants of sunlight making the rocks glisten and water shine and it was just about the perfect sunset on the lake.
Lake Erie is one of the Great Lakes and is named after a Native American tribe that lived on its southern shore. Most of the water flows into Lake Erie from the Detroit River. The outflow from the lake creates another wonder, the Niagara River. The western basin of Lake Erie is the home for about 26 islands, depending on current water levels. Lake Erie also provides for a regional phenomenon - lake effect snow that makes Buffalo, NY infamous for its winter storms.
