An early morning pre-sunrise foggy morning at Big Bend of Letchworth State Park, New York (NY).

Foggy Fall Morning at Big Bend of Letchworth

A foggy fall morning at the Big Bend on the Genesee River in the Letchworth State Park. The early foliage season already provides a colorful feast for one's eyes yet keeps enough greens to contrast the yellows, oranges, and reds. Later in the season, as greens disappear, there is definitely more color but trees no longer stand out that distinctively.

Here, Mother Nature also provided another contrasting element - the valley fog, another fall phenomena that stands out from the colors with its off-white tones. On this particular cloudy morning there was no sun and the fog remained over the river for on unusually long time.

Letchworth State Park is about 35 miles south of Rochester, NY and 60 miles from Buffalo, NY. It is along the Genesee River and follows it for about 17 miles. The park is most known for its three major waterfalls - Lower Falls, Middle Falls, and Upper Falls.

There are many additional waterfalls on the Genesee River tributaries too that are well worth exploring, especially for those who have visited the major and most obvious points of interest.

The park is well known for its fall color show.
