Foggy Daybreak over Genesee River, Letchworth State Park

Photography for your home or office walls. Fine art photo prints, gallery canvas wraps, standouts, or other photo products for you or to gift. See selection on the right. Prints can be matted and framed ready to hang.

A foggy fall morning at the Big Bend on the Genesee River in the Letchworth State Park, looking up the river here, or southeast.

The early foliage season already provides a colorful feast for one's eyes yet keeps enough greens to contrast the yellows, oranges, and reds. Later in the season, as greens disappear, there is more color but trees no longer stand out that distinctively.

Here, Mother Nature also provided another contrasting element - the valley fog, another fall phenomena that stands out from the colors with its off-white tones. On this particular cloudy morning there was no sun and the fog remained over the river for on unusually long time.

Letchworth State Park is about 35 miles south of Rochester, NY and 60 miles from Buffalo, NY. It is along the Genesee River and follows it for about 17 miles. The park is most known for its three major waterfalls - Lower Falls, Middle Falls, and Upper Falls.

There are many additional waterfalls on the Genesee River tributaries too that are well worth exploring, especially for those who have visited the major and most obvious points of interest.
