The sun has set, the lights have been dimmed, the night started taking over the land. The lake has calmed down, the wind has faded. Not a soul, not a sound. That is what the onset of dusk feels like at the mouth of Eighteen Mile Creek as it disappears into Lake Erie. You can get lost in the expanse of water looking at the distant horizon. You can wonder what lies beyond. And then it gets really dark and you need to pack up and head back on the trail while there are traces of light left.
