A black and white minimalism of a single rock in Lake Erie surrounded by fog, Eighteen Mile Creek Mouth, New York (NY).

Submerged Rock

Lake Erie shore at the mouth of the Eighteen Mile Creek near Buffalo, NY.

The rich sunrise colors with deep hues ... did not happen this morning. Neither did the fog work the way I was planning. It was not the low laying layer of fog over water than can become so photogenic. Instead, it was a rather thick and slow to burn off layer of fog higher up obstructing the horizon, blocking any sunlight, and removing any color that was more than a few feet away.

And that is what ended up making this morning special. In every direction, simplicity ruled! Just one or two elements and the rest obscured by the thick veil of dense fog!
