The beautiful steam locomotive No. 18 arriving in Curriers Depot on its run from Arcade, NY, bringing a full load of passengers for a short break before the excursion's return.
The Buffalo, Attica & Arcade Railroad was formed by the Pennsylvania Railroad buying and connecting several small incomplete railroads. The line would be narrow gauge at first, standardized after 1895 to connect with the Pennsylvania Railroad. Facing closure in 1917 interested parties began to raise money. Stock was sold to farmers, merchants and anyone else who was interested. The Arcade and Attica Railroad Corporation was formed. The line from North Java to Attica was abandoned after the Tonawanda Creek flooded its banks taking several hundred feet of track with it in 1957.
