Once upon a time, there were many stores along the Buffalo's Main Street and a pedestrian mall was built along with a tram / train line, and car traffic was diverted away. Then n the 80s (that is 1980s) the population of Buffalo shrank, the stores moved to suburban malls, and Main Street and the train both lost the traffic that was planned for them. Then, in the early 21st century politicians decided they'd try from scratch. So one of the hot topics for the past few years have been getting the cars back, along with the train. Supposedly, that will get the people and stores back and revitalize the street. We will see.
