Erie Basin Marina, where this photograph was taken from, is a traditional location to watch sunsets. This photo however is from the opposite side of the day. As the sun was rising at my back the western sky twinkled with subtle pastel colors and provided a soft backdrop for the lighthouse. To further soften the look, the long exposure softened the ripples of Lake Erie into a flat surface and allowed some motion blur in the clouds. I was a beautiful morning looking both east and west. Another Mother Nature's masterpiece!

Buffalo Main Light, often called simply Buffalo Light or Buffalo Lighthouse, is located across the Buffalo River from the Erie Basin Marina and next door to the United States Coast Guard Station. While on their grounds, visitors are no longer entering the fenced off area. Instead, a narrow path allows foot and bike access along the river. Opening hours are still enforced though.

The lighthouse was built in 1833 and served through 1914. It is 68 feet tall, and its octagonal shape gradually narrows from the bottom up.
