This cloudy and colorful fall day by the Orchard Park, NY train depot was like a trip back in time. I could almost hear the incoming train in the distance. Wouldn't it be great if a steam train could pay a visit?
Buffalo Rochester & Pittsburgh Depot in Orchard Park, New York located behind the Orchard Park Erie County Public Library, is owned and operated by the Western New York Railway Historical Society. The depot was built in 1911 by the Buffalo, Rochester Pittsburgh Railway presided by Harry Yates, an Orchard Park resident. The depot site also includes a freight house, very uncommon for a small town train depot. Passenger service at the depot ended in the mid-1950s and freight service continued through late 70s.
