Robert Rich Way Bridge to Squaw Island in Winter at Dusk, Buffalo, New York (NY).

Robert Rich Way Bridge to Squaw Island in Winter

It was bitterly cold and windy around 10 Fahrenheit, with a monster snow cloud hanging over downtown Buffalo, traffic on I-190 down to a crawl. Mine was one of three cars that passed through the Broderick Park on Squaw Island in about an hour, not the usual traffic the park gets at sunset.

This image was photographed at dusk. There was not much of a sunset looking west as clouds covered up the whole sky all the way to the horizon but still the sun managed to push some color towards the eastern sky, which is the direction you're looking in here.

The Squaw Island Bridge on Robert Rich Way (previously West Ferry Street) in Buffalo, NY is a lift bridge, or a bascule bridge and crosses the Black Rock Canal (I've also seen references to Black Rock Channel) that runs parallel to the Niagara River in Buffalo, NY. It provides access to the Squaw Island and its Broderick Park and the Bird Island Pier. The park is still under construction as of this writing and is taking shape very nicely with new parking lot, new lighting, new paths, and new facilities.
