You will find quite a few people in the Erie Basin Marina at sunset, watching the sun setting across Lake Erie and the Niagara River. However, you will not find too many at sunrise time. While the sun does not show up over the water but over the city, the blue hour can be as beautiful and one should not underestimate the colors of the western sky when clouds are prevalent.

This photo was taken just a few minutes before the street lights were turned off. I was first surprised they were still on, and then glad i captured this photo just before they went out. I really liked the gold tones against the deep blue tones!

Erie Basin Marina is one of many great spots on Buffalo's waterfront, providing for boat watching, sunsets across the lake, and storms arriving from the west can be spectacular. When you tire of the lake views, turn around and see the beauty of architecture!
