Green Mountains Sunrise, Vermont

Photography for your home or office walls. Fine art photo prints, gallery canvas wraps, standouts, or other photo products for you or to gift. See selection on the right. Prints can be matted and framed ready to hang.

A foggy sunrise over the ridges of Green Mountains in Vermont. Green Mountains run for about 250 miles and extend the Berkshires of Massachusetts. Their highest peak Mount Mansfield at 4.395 feet / 1,340 m is also the highest in Vermont. Green Mountains are part of the Appalachian Mountains running from Alabama to Quebec.

The Long Trail crosses all of the major peaks and creates about a third of the Appalachian Trail.

It's always nice when nature decides to throw in an extra reward for getting up early. On this particular morning, the reward for the 5 AM wake up call was beautiful, dense fog. This photo was taken a bit later with the sun already peeking over the mountain tops and burning the fog off. It still creates a nice layer separation behind the front tree line.
