An early morning on Shipwreck Beach on the South Shore of Kauai, Hawaii. Arriving early well before sunrise with no people around, just the humming of the Pacific ocean and time to stare into distance and contemplate. What more could one ask for, a photographer, or not. This morning, a heavy cloud layer above the horizon obstructed the sunrise but landed this coastline scene a dose of drama that would have been otherwise missing.
Kaua`i is the oldest of the main Hawaiian Islands and fourth largest of the archipelago. The first European known to reach Hawaii was James Cook who landed at Waimea Bay and named the archipelago Sandwich Islands after his patron, the Earl of Sandwich. Later, king Kamehameha I named the islands after his home island of Hawaii (the Big Island).
