The beautiful Iowa State Capitol in Des Moines photographed at sunset. The sun was setting slightly to the right of the building, lighting the clouds from underneath and providing a nice glow on the central golden dome.
The Capitol was completed in 1886 and is unique with its five domes, four on corner towers and one golden dome in the center. The original state Capitol was in Iowa City but was moved to today's Des Moines. The original architects of the building were John Cochrane and Alfred Piquenard. Neither has seen the building to completion. The Capitol is built in modified Renaissance style.
Located at 1007 East Grand Avenue, Des Moines, IA 50319.
