Wagon Wheel, Luray Valley Museum

Wagon Wheel, Luray Valley Museum

A wagon wheel against a blacksmith shop wall. Just look and let your mind wander, let it do the rest. A wagon, where is it? What was it used for. The eye-catching red vent. Does it open and close or stay open? Is it wood or metal? Is it original? The chimney cap, why here? The rocks in the mortar: functional or decorative?

The Luray Valley Museum shares a parking lot with Luray Caverns and several other attractions conveniently located at a single location (The Car and Carriage Caravan Museum, Toy Town Junction, The Stonyman Mining Company Gem Sluice, The Garden Maze, Rope Adventure Park). After visiting the caverns this is a great place to spend some time mostly outside. You will time travel back to the 1800s and have an opportunity to slow down and think about the lifestyle comparison. See if you can soak the whole place in without peeking at your cell phone!
