A frozen creek in Emery park covered with a layer of snow. The flow was still very strong and while water peeked out only here and there the sounds of flowing and bubbling water could be heard throughout the gorge.

And then I came upon this spot where water disappeared under the layer of ice and snow and a little tree branch peeked above as if reaching for air. I found the simple scene captivating!

Emery Park is in the village of South Wales, NY and offers hiking, biking, picnic shelters, baseball, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and also downhill skiing with a T-Bar to get you back up. You can also hike along the East Branch of Cazenovia Creek in its eastern-most section. And finally, it also has a disc golf course. Emery Park is a short drive south from East Aurora and not far from Buffalo and its suburbs.
