Geese over Ice on Green Lake, Orchard Park, NY

Flock of geese surveying the state of winter at Green Lake with the last bits of a very thin sheet of ice covering it. After spending the night the rays of morning sun send them flying to their next destination.

Originally Green Lake Park, gradually donated to the village of Orchard Park by Harry Yates between 1912 and 1942, renamed in his honor to Yates Park in 1958.

Photographed with a vintage automatic 35mm Olympus Stylus Zoom 140 camera on Ultrafine Xtreme UFX 400 black and white film, developed in D-23 developer.
