Nature's Chaos at the Winter's Start, Tree Roots Peeking through Snow. Chestnut Ridge Park, Orchard Park, New York (NY).

Nature's Chaos at the Winter's Start

Exploring nature's chaos in Chestnut Ridge Park and observing how the random at first often appears as patterns after eyes have time to pick them out. Sometimes the patterns are small, sometimes large.

Here, the thin layer of belated winter's initial snowfall was not enough to fully reach under the trees and roots were still sticking out with forming curves and patterns of their own, while the pine needles added color and smaller patterns of their own.

Chestnut Ridge Park is named after the many chestnut trees that used to cover the hills. The park offers plenty of hiking opportunities, there is a disc golf course in the smaller eastern part (starting right by the casino), and in winter cross-country skiing and snowshoeing is popular. The hill by the casino offers sledding and the toboggan chutes have been fixed and are operational again too.
