Eternal Flame

Eternal Flame Waterfall in Chestnut Ridge Park, Orchard Park, NY, is a proof that frequently one does not have to search far to find wonders of nature. Here, the elements are in a constant clash! Who'd expect a flame constantly burning in the middle of a waterfall?

Thanks to a constantly escaping natural gas the flame keeps on burning. Only on one occasion did I find the flame extinguished. A lighter can easily fix that (matches are tougher since you need to get them through the waterfall first).

This wonderful place went from barely known about 10 years ago to rather crowded these days, including a brand new parking lot at a new alternate trail head. I hope it stays as great as it still is for years to come!
