Curtiss Hotel Blues, architecture of downtown Buffalo, NY

Curtiss Hotel Blues

Given the fabulous illumination of the hotel, what could be a better time for photography than the blue hour of dusk? The bright colors standing out and rotating through several color transitions, and light traffic zooming by below on Franklin Street. Great to see another great building come back to life!

Curtiss Hotel is located in the historic Harlow C. Curtiss building on Franklin Street, which was built in 1912 and was one of the first steel-framed buildings in Buffalo, NY. It was designed by Buffalo-based architect Paul Mann, Curtiss's brother-in-law. By 1990s the building was vacant. Developer Mark Croce bought the Curtiss building in 2002. Croce also owns the Statler City in downtown Buffalo.
