De Immigrant on Mississippi, a dutch-style windmill in Fulton, Illinois (IL).

De Immigrant on Mississippi

Visited on a road trip from Buffalo, New York to Mesa, Colorado. De Immigrant is a Dutch style wind mill built in Fulton, Illinois in 2000 during their Dutch Days Festival. Parts were manufactured and pre-assembled in the Netherlands and delivered to Fulton where Dutch craftsmen completed the assembly. The mill is fully operational even though it is not always in operation. It does come on regularly and they make several types of flour there that you can buy in their wind mill museum across the street.

The mill is almost 100 feet tall and is built on a flood control dike on the banks of the mighty Mississippi River. The entire head turns to set the sails into the wind.
