The 2015/16 winter season was very shy and very slow to come. No snow in December and temperatures easily competing with spring. Then, on January 1, 2016 we all woke up to a beautiful white world and I needed some fresh air. A stroll through Chestnut Ridge park was the perfect recipe. As one point, I turned around and this scene opened up in front of me. What a gorgeous New Year's present!

Chestnut Ridge Park is an Erie County park in Orchard Park, New York with opportunities to pursue many outdoor activities. There are tennis courts by the casino, and a sledding hill for some winter fun. Children's playgrounds are scattered throughout the park. There's also a baseball diamond with bleachers. And on the sledding hill by the casino you will also find the start of an 18-hole disc golf course tracking the park ravines and mostly hidden in the woods. You can also go for a run or a bike ride through the park, or just walk. Picnic shelters are also available by reservation.
