Cloudy Shipwreck Beach Sunrise, South Shore Kauai, Hawaii (HI)

Cloudy Shipwreck Beach Sunrise

Dramatic clouds hiding the sun above Shipwreck Beach, Kauai, Hawaii at sunrise with the surf rushing in flooding the coastline lava rocks. Compliments on the storm that passed over the Hawaiian Islands just a day before the Pacific Ocean was wild sending unusually large waves towards the beach. What a wonderful scene to just sit back, relax, and breath in the mood!

Kaua`i is the oldest of the main Hawaiian Islands and fourth largest of the archipelago. The first European known to reach Hawaii was James Cook who landed at Waimea Bay and named the archipelago Sandwich Islands after his patron, the Earl of Sandwich. Later, king Kamehameha I named the islands after his home island of Hawaii (the Big Island).
