A peaceful Pacific sunset followed by the night moving in. Ocean waves splashing over the lava filled shoreline, clouds floating above, breeze in the air, otherwise quiet.
Kaua`i is the oldest of the main Hawaiian Islands and fourth largest of the archipelago. The first European known to reach Hawaii was James Cook who landed at Waimea Bay and named the archipelago Sandwich Islands after his patron, the Earl of Sandwich. Later, king Kamehameha I named the islands after his home island of Hawaii (the Big Island).
