Blue Hour over Gallagher Pier, Buffalo Waterfront
What could be better than ending a great spring day with a blue hour shot on the waterfront? It's really exciting to see all of the places along the waterfront gradually opening so many more opportunities to people, whether you want to take a walk, jog, bike, or be out there with a camera. In just a few years, so many new cool places popped up! If you're local and have not been there in a while, take a ride along the Fuhrmann Boulevard and you just might be very pleasantly surprised! And for that matter, Ohio Street has a surprise in store for you too!
On the photographic side, I wanted this to be a blue hour shot from the start. I arrived about 30 minutes before sunset and took a few photos as the sun went down. At that time, the illumination was not even on and the contrast was too high. With the sun dipping below horizon, the sky gre darker, illumination came on, and the light was more and more balanced. I believe this shot was the peak past which the sky was too dark. I plan on posting a sequence of the shots to show you how dramatically the lighting conditions change within about 20 minutes.
Have fun!
