Creek BedFall in an Abstract
I really enjoyed capturing this photograph. There were so many significant landscape sights around this beautiful hike around Rose River and later Hogcamp Branch. Lots of waterfalls, wonderful views of the trail winding through the fall forest, just a never-ending stream of visual overload.
But then I stumbled upon this beautiful spot. Water was really shallow there and the color and texture of the river bed came through with great level of detail. The flow was slow, and smooth. And then the rock curved down and the water sped up over it rushing to a little pool just a few inches below.
I spent quite a bit of time looking for the right angle to capture it all. In the end, my polarizing filter came to rescue and helped me tune in the right amount of light reflection. At first, I turned it to eliminate all of it but that did not seem to work well. I started turning past that point and saw a little bit of reflection come back on the faster section. A few more turns back and forth and I was happy with what the viewfinder showed. Set the delayed exposure, click the shutter, let go of the camera and tripod, and wait. Click, there it is!
Have fun!
