Lubitel 166BLake Michigan
For today's post I'm sharing a few photos from a one-day personal project. As I was sitting in my hotel room while traveling I was thinking about what to shoot. I wanted to try something different than my favorite early morning sunrises over Lake Michigan. The idea that came to me was something that was all around me.
We are in such a hurry these days, and we have grown so lazy. We can't even park our cars and get our bottoms off the seat. Yes, I am inferring the topic of drive-through food establishments. You see, even there the language takes a lazy toll and they're drive-thrus, not drive-throughs.
That reminds me of what I learned at the Theodore Roosevelt Inagural Site right here in Buffalo, NY. Apparently, he did not like long words with convoluted spelling either and proposed many changes, including shortening "ough". Yes, he preferred thru to through and thus would have preferred drive-thru to drive-through long before they even existed.
All of the photos you see here have been shot on a simple and light-weight twin-lens reflex camera, the Lubitel 166B, on black and white Fomapan 400 film (in 120 square format, or 6x6 cm).

To go with the photos, I'd like to share some bits and pieces of facts and history related to the topic. All of this info is collected from the Internet so take it for what it's worth. Misinformation spreads quickly. But since this is not a matter of life and death, I am sharing these with this disclaimer.

There are some unexpected drive-through places out there, like drive-through viewing at a funeral home, drive-through praying by churches, drive-through art galleries and museums, drive-through law firms, and even a drive through liquor and gun store.
