Let's go with a black and white Thursday again and let's add something to my sister site timelessbuffalo.com. It's a winter scene from downtown Buffalo, NY in black and white and it reminds me of our road trips to faraway places yet it is right here on the home front.

If you follow my blog regularly you must have noticed this is a favorite location for me to photograph in color and in black and white, digitally and on film, and even directly on photo paper using a large format 4x5 pinhole camera. The brick just has some intensity that draws me to it. And despite the strong colors I really like how it looks in black and white. The strong bright banner line certainly helps in this regard.

It is not just this building though. Changing my vantage point just a little bit the focal point becomes South Park Avenue and that is where memories of road trips through the American Midwest and Southwest start flooding in, along with a healthy dose of nostalgia. And on this winter day the cloudy sky provided some nice additional drama over this wonderful downtown setup.
