Wind Sculpture Park, Buffalo, NY
I've had quite a few posts on this topic but it just keeps coming, and that is a great thing. The Outer Harbor of Buffalo, NY, is continuing to provide more and more areas for public enjoyment. The Wind Sculpture Park is the latest addition.
The copyrighted sculptures were made by Whitaker Studio and were commissioned by the Erie Canal Harbor Development Corporation.

It's a great small park next to the Times Beach Nature Preserve further extending the possibilities of the Outer Harbor. With the improvements from the Gallagher Beach and Pier, around the NFTA Boat Harbor, by the Bell Slip, and now the Wind Sculpture Park, Times Beach Nature Preserve, all the way tot he Buffalo Main Light, it's a great area for many activities and quite popular already. It's great to see this land being developed and opened to public. If you have not been there lately, time to stop by and enjoy a nice walk with boat watching and a sunset over Lake Erie.

It's also fun for kids since a climbing rock and a dual slide are included. The rock features fossil imprints too for some educational fun. Running up the spiral shaped path up to the elevated sculptures is also fun and provides a rewarding view over the break wall revealing the true Lake Erie.

As I learn more and more about the Buffalo waterfront development I am more and more amazed how many different organizations and enthusiasts are passionately involved in shaping the future of this fine piece of land. Just a few years back the area did not have much to offer to general public and that has all changed. I am also impressed by the speed of the change. In just a few years, there is so much more to enjoy!

So thanks to all pushing for a green space on the waterfront for general public to use. It's become my most favorite Buffalo destination.
Have fun on the waterfront!
Some organizations I've come across involved in the waterfront development and the promotion of Buffalo in general: 21st Century Park on the Outer Harbor, Buffalo Rising, Buffalo Citybration, Trowbridge Wolf Michaels Landscape Architects (TWMLA), Erie Canal Harbor Development Corporation (ECHDC), Niagara River Greenway Commission, Buffalo Niagara Riverkeeper ... and that's just scratching the surface I am sure.
