With the first snowflakes flying over the weekend I hope it's alright to post a few photos featuring that white substance. For these two I believe it worked really well to highlight the beautiful colors of the brick building.

I shared a similar photograph with you in the past. It was shot in black and white and with a large format pinhole camera straight on photographic paper. And there was no snow then. You can find and compare that post here: Cobblestone on Pinhole, Buffalo, NY.

The first photograph is all about the color and the texture of the brick facade of this beautiful downtown building. I really liked how the fresh white snow inconspicuously helped the colors stand out, especially in tandem with the white stripe of the painted banner.

On the other hand, by changing my vantage point a bit, I liked how this downtown scene transferred into a moody road trip-style photograph, almost like what you get to see around Route 66 or in some ghost towns. A lone bold building alongside a long road. As with the first photo I believe the snow worked really well here too as did the diffused backlight of the morning sun trying to make it through the clouds.
