Previously from the Grand Island Bridges: A New Take on the South Grand Island Bridge
Bridges are one of my favorite subjects. They offer such a great variety of perspectives and angles. When combined with the varying atmospheric conditions the photographic opportunities are endless. Despite having been to the foot of the South Grand Island Bridge many times I don't feel like I will run out of material any time soon, if ever.
On this visit, I decided to go for symmetry, which these twin bridges lend themselves to very nicely. I also wanted to stress, even exaggerate, the size and used a super wide angle lens (17 mm). Further, I angled the camera upward to have the bridge take over most of the frame. Since there were no strong straight vertical lines that would get skewed by this I did not mind and liked it for this photo; unlike architectural shots of buildings where I would not be comfortable with this approach.
