After visiting the city for a bit it's time to head back to the wilderness, or at least as close as one can get in the suburbs of Buffalo. Birdsong Park has been on my list of favorites for couple years now and I am still not feeling like I have exhausted what it has to offer. Not only does it look different each time I visit due to seasons, time of day, weather, but I also have the option of looking at things differently based on the camera I pack.

This day I was out with my twin lens reflex 1950s Yashica LM. I had it recently serviced to bring it back to top shape and wanted to try it out. A camera like that truly changes the pace. With the waist level finder things look different. The native square format also changes how I think about composition. And the fixed 80mm lens (a normal lens for a medium format camera; an equivalent to a 44mm lens on a 35mm camera) is quite longer compared to the wide angle lenses I normally prefer to shoot.
I found my first scene as soon as I turned into the woods. This creek scene against the rising sun looked perfect and the tree bend over the creek was the final magnet that made me crawl around through all of the prickly bushes to find my perfect vantage point.
