Chicago Wanderings

Over the last several years life has taken me to the Chicago land on a regular basis. That has presented an opportunity to explore the area with a camera in hand.

Support this blog: Do you like my free content but are not ready to buy a photograph yet? Using my links (Amazon) to do your shopping helps me share more photographs and write the stories behind them. And by all means, if you buy a photograph, that is the best reward and I appreciate it very much! You can get prints or whole framed and matted ready to hang solutions with just a few mouse clicks (get an overview here).

For my early morning photo expeditions I usually head out to the lake or to nature or forest preserves. However, once in a while I enjoy a bit of train spotting and like to get them in different locations. And once in a new location I don't necessarily limit myself to trains. Such was the case  this morning. During the gap in the train schedule I explored the towns of Highwood and Fort Sheridan, Illinois with my Nikon FE loaded with the Ilford FP4 black and white film.

The morning light was blasting the east facing buildings with a beautiful light making them glow. With its white windows and doors Froggy's Cafe stood out even more than the others!

Not far to the north was my second destination, the fort at Fort Sheridan. It was my first time there and I took a nice walk to explore the area eventually finding a few angles I enjoyed.
